Depression

DEPRESSION

> feeling or showing sorrow; unhappy for many consecutive weeks

We all feel sad sometimes and it’s okay.  It’s a necessary part of life in order to appreciate the happy times.  You can’t know one without the other.  But, what if it overtakes us and there are way more sad times than happy times?  That’s when we look at ways to process emotion and learn how to give power to happiness before sadness turns into depression or other harmful behaviors.

Prolonged sadness can be a precursor to more serious things.  Depression in youth can manifest in slow but steady ways. Knowing what is normal for your child is important. In developing bodies hormones and biological levels fluctuate, but if your child is constantly in a sad state rest assured that depression is rather common and treating depression produces good results.
