MENTAL HEALTH – “Enough Talk, Let’s Fight!”
U.S. Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy issues a public health advisory on Tuesday on mental health challenges confronting youth. Life Launch Centers says, “Enough Talk, Let’s Fight!”
Orem, UT (December 8th, 2021) – Mental Health has been at the forefront of public discussion for some time now, but who is actually doing anything about it?

US Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy issued a public health advisory on Tuesday on mental health challenges confronting youth. He calls on institutions to create accessible supports particularly as billions of dollars in pandemic-relief aid was marked to target mental health concerns.
Online Resilience Learning
Director of Business Development Joe Newman at Life Launch Centers of Utah said, “For the last 3 years, we’ve been feverishly engaged in research and development to create online programs, in school supports, and intensive outpatient groups to help families overcome mental health concerns by learning Resilience. While so many are still just raising awareness, I feel like Kung Fu Panda in saying, ‘Enough Talk, Let’s Fight!’ It‘s time we do something about this crisis, and we are!”

Research in the public health advisory cited that suicide attempts are 4% higher for adolescent boys, but a whopping 51% higher for adolescent girls as compared to the same time period in early 2019. “That’s unacceptable,” says Kimball DeLaMare, LCSW and chief clinical officer for Life Launch Centers. “We’ve largely traded one public health concern for another. That’s why we’re doing all we can to bring our Resilience education to as many families as we can.”

New Resilience Groups Opening
Life Launch Centers has just announced the opening of a 5th location now bringing their intensive outpatient Resilience groups to Utah County. Davee Chandler, LCSW and newly named Clinical director of the new center says, “We know a lot of families are struggling with anxiety, depression and suicide in Utah County, and though we’re a small company and it’s a bit of a stretch for us right now, we know we’ve got to get this Resilience training to as many families as we can, because it really works.”

Snow Canyon High School in Southern Utah piloted a Character Education class last school year teaching the Life Launch University – Social Emotional Learning Video series. Data gathered from class surveys revealed a 21.5% increase in students‘ ability to control emotions. It also found a 38.1% increase in students’ ability to stay calm. “It’s a really powerful program,” says DeLaMare. “We don’t pull any punches. We teach about triggers, tools to regulate intense emotion, and to how build healthy connections. That’s how we really become emotionally resilient. You’d usually have to go to counseling to get this stuff, but with this mental health crisis, everyone needs this education.”
In-School Supports

Schools throughout Utah and the Pacific Islands are now implementing the Social-Emotional Curriculum of Life Launch University on a school wide basis. Thousands of students and families are learning the skills to take back control of emotions and cope in healthy ways. “It’s a good start, but our big hairy audacious goal is to teach resilience to over a million people within the next 3 years. Heaven knows we all need it right now,” says Newman.
